On Thursday, June 8, 2017, Bray was honored to accept a 2017 USGBC Local Leader Award of Excellence for the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) – Maintenance Facility in the Innovative Design, New Construction category and a 2016 Focus on Energy Design Assistance Program Award for most project applications during the course of a year. Awards were given at the 2017 USGBC Transformation Awards Reception, in partnership with Focus on Energy and the City of Milwaukee’s Better Building Challenge, held at the Milwaukee County War Memorial.
The new 40,000 square foot MMSD Maintenance Facility evolved from a Bray-led facility master planning effort to serve the needs of MMSD and the surrounding community. The sustainable design approaches earned the building LEED® Platinum certification, one of just 25 LEED® Platinum buildings in Wisconsin.
Sustainable features include an HVAC system utilizing a unique, effluent-circulating heat pump process, and photovoltaic roof panels that reflect sunlight and help maintain a cooler ambient temperature both inside and outside of the building. Click here to learn more about the project.
We share this recognition with our project partners: Sustainable Engineering Group, Fredericksen Engineering, Muermann Engineering, JSD Professional Services, and CD Smith Construction. We would also like to thank the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District for being exceptional partners throughout the entire design and construction process.
Finally, we feel very fortunate to have also received a 2016 Focus on Energy Design Assistance Program Award for most project applications during the course of a year. We will continue to encourage our clients to make smart and informed energy choices by taking advantage of Focus on Energy’s expertise and incentives.
Thank you USGBC Wisconsin and Focus on Energy and congratulations to all of our fellow award recipients!
