Sudlow Middle School

The Davenport Community School District is going through district-wide improvements including upgrades and additions to Sudlow Middle School to accommodate 6th graders into the building.

Need: Additional space and updates to the current building to support the addition of 6th graders

Solution: Updated and expanded classrooms, office, kitchen, cafeteria, and library as well as renovations to existing classrooms to support 21st Century curriculum.

Like-new school in progress

Welcoming 6th graders to the building

Our team is working with the district to provide a like-new Sudlow Middle School that will transition 6th graders into the facility. Each grade (6-8) will have a dedicated level in the new three-story educational wing that will house core classes. Each level will be split into two houses, providing students a “home base” for core classes and bringing a sense of security and normalcy to their learning environments.

The building will have three main areas: academics, arts, and events (athletics) with a new and expanded office, kitchen, cafeteria, and library. New construction of appropriately sized classrooms will meet the needs of additional students and programs as well as allow for a house model approach to the building layout.

Other features include additional gym space to better support the larger building population size, improved site safety, and outdoor spaces for student activities.

District-wide improvements Master planning efforts

We partnered with the Davenport Community School District to provide master planning efforts, creating district standards for both their current and future projects. In support of the planning efforts, district-wide grade reconfigurations at the middle school level were determined. To support these efforts, both Sudlow Middle School and Smart Middle School will expand to accommodate 6th graders in the building.

In addition, we’re working with district to renovate and expand many other district facilities, including West High School, North High School, Central High School, Madison Elementary, and McKinley Elementary. We are also working with the district to renovate and expand district athletic fields.
