Conversion of outdated classroom spaces
The Bray team worked with Hillcrest Elementary to provide more classroom space and remove the portable classrooms that were being utilized. The district also wanted to provide a courtyard with a playground for the younger students. Part of the renovations included turning the existing gymnasium into the library, and existing library into a collaboration space. Skylights were added above new collaboration spaces to bring in more natural light.
Environmental branding was also created in the cafeteria and various corridors throughout the school. The exterior of the building was designed to resemble the existing building, but also added a splash of color to highlight entry points. The parent pick-up/drop-off loop was reconfigured with a double stacking drive lane to provide increase space for parent vehicles.
