Bray Architects, in collaboration with Stantec (then Burt Hill), designed this new student center inspired by the natural landscape surrounding the Eau Claire campus. All aspects of the natural surroundings (including the Chippewa River, north woods, Little Niagara Creek, and stone formations) informed the sensitive design of this canoe-shaped structure that points toward the river. The architectural style can be considered “Midwest Modern Lodge.”
The surrounding green space, created through the demolition of the existing Davies Center, features an outdoor quad and amphitheater in its northwest corner. The park-like setting incorporates Little Niagara Creek as a natural feature, enhancing the outdoor appeal of the lower campus.
The Student Center offers space for student organizations, student center administration offices, meeting rooms, ballrooms, event rooms, storage, retail dining services, and retail operations.
