A facility assessment identified that the School District of Albany was in need of a safe and secure entrance and commons space for its K-12 building. Community support of an April 2019 referendum allowed the District to create a new addition with a secure main entrance that routes visitors through the main office, as well as creates a defined entrance for guests. The new entrance frees up existing office space to better serve students by centralizing student service functions.
The School District of Albany K-12 building addition also features a new commons space to serve a variety of needs during the school day while also providing a location for community activities and a safer and more convenient space to be utilized by the Community Center. The building also received minor renovations to the restrooms adjacent to the new space, and a partial roof replacement.
