Multi-phased additions and renovations beautifully transformed Port Washington High School into a “like-new” school that better supports 21st Century curriculum as well as co-curriculars.
The high school’s gymnasium, weight and fitness room, wrestling room, and football mudroom were included in the additions to the original building. The new, three-court gymnasium takes advantage of the bluff’s grade change. Views of the gymnasium, and activities within, can be seen from the school’s main entryway, while top-loaded bleachers draw spectators down toward the main competition court.
The weight and fitness room, located on the lower level below the cafeteria, offers plenty of vertical space for free weight racks and machines. A wall of windows allows natural light to fill the space and provides views of the natural landscape. The wrestling room includes a martial arts-style subfloor below the wrestling mats to provide added resiliency for safety purposes.
