Employee Spotlight – Miranda Hassler

Miranda Hassler is a project coordinator on the pre-design team. In this role, she focuses on pre-referendum work for school districts. She helps the team implement facility studies, which are an overall assessment of the district’s buildings. This is an important first step for the district and design teams as they plan for future renovation and new construction projects.

When she thinks back to what brought her into architecture, Miranda remembers a moment in sixth grade where she had to write a paper about a career path. “I was always good at math and also had a creative side,” she says. “My father recommended I write about architecture.” She followed his advice. The research for that assignment sparked her interest in the career, and she’s stuck with it since that time.

Miranda is also a strong advocate for sustainable design. “About halfway through college, I really started to focus on sustainable building practices and ultimately graduated with a minor in sustainable environments,” she says. While still in college, she pursued a LEED Green Associate credential and, later, received her WELL AP credential.

What Miranda enjoys most about working at Bray are her coworkers. “Everyone on the pre-design team is friendly and helpful,” she says. She also likes doing field verifications, which are visits to the future building site to check the accuracy of existing construction documents. She enjoys seeing how excited the teachers get when they learn why Miranda and the pre-design team are visiting. “I love seeing them smile knowing that their school will have some work done soon,” she says.

Outside of the office, you’ll likely find Miranda fulfilling her passion for music. When she’s not listening to music, she’s making it. She has played guitar for over a decade, and loves finding new songs to learn and practice.
