University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Brotz Science Building
Sheboygan, Wisconsin

Bray Architects designed the original campus and has been involved in numerous addition, renovation and master planning projects for the University.

The latest project, the Brotz Science Building, consists of a 24,000 square foot addition to the campus complex. It houses six new science lab/classrooms and a sixty seat lecture hall. The layout "stacks" two labs on each of three floor levels (with office and prep rooms between labs). Botany and anatomy are located on the ground floor where there is direct access to a greenhouse. Physics and geology are located on the first floor. Two chemistry labs occupy the second floor level.

The incorporation of sustainable design principles was a focus throughout the design process. This attention to recycled materials, use of natural light and alternative energy sources has resulted in an environmentally conscious solution. The use of stone quarried approximately 30 miles from the site and the use of flooring materials manufactured from recycled materials also contributes to the "green" approach.
