Madison Fire Station No. 7
Madison, Wisconsin
The new fire station replaces an outdated facility on Madison’s far west side. The apparatus wing contains three drive-through equipment bays with support space for hazardous materials storage, turn-out gear, and a meeting room. The administrative/living area contains a watch room, office, officer’s quarters, eight sleeping cubicles, six individual toilets with showers, kitchen and dining area, exercise room, day room, and support and mechanical spaces.
The basic floor plan and program have become the prototype for all additional fire stations constructed throughout the City. This consistency in building layout makes the movement and training of staff much more efficient as there is no learning curve when moving between stations.
