Kennedy Elementary School
School District of Janesville

The building organization responds to the school district's "Beyond 2000" curriculum plan. The building is divided into four neighborhoods: early childhood and kindergarten, grades 1-2, grades 3-4 and grade 5.

These neighborhoods surround the "central village" areas of the library, the performance/commons space and the administration offices. The neighborhoods are designed to allow for the practice of looping, team teaching, and the inclusion of children with disabilities. Each neighborhood has its own resource area with kitchen, cubby spaces, teacher planning rooms, pull out spaces for children with disabilities, toilets and storage spaces. The fifth graders are in their own neighborhood to prepare for entering middle school.
