Bray Awarded Commission to Design Addition/Renovation for the Salvation Army

Sheboygan, WI / September, 2009 Bray Architects has been commissioned by The Salvation Army to provide program verification, planning, and architectural/ engineering services for the proposed addition/renovation at their Sheboygan Area Corps location.

The project will include an approximately 16,400 square foot, 2-3 story addition in an adjacent parking lot purchased by the Salvation Army. Program enhancements provided by the addition will include:
Emergency Shelter | expanded emergency shelter increasing the capacity from 21 beds to 35 beds.  It will also offer separation of male and female clients with provision for more family lodging space.
Red Shield Free Clinic | updated facilities to offer all services to clients on the first floor – alleviating the need to move clients to the lower level.
Social Service Offices | clustered together for the first time, this improvement will offer all social service staff the opportunity to work closely and better meet the needs of their clients.

Renovation of the existing Salvation Army will provide:.
Food Pantry | the addition of on-site storage, a loading dock and shelving from which clients can make food selections on one level will enhance convenience and access for staff and clients.
Administrative Offices | the professional staff will be located together for the first time providing for increased efficiency.
Waiting/Reception Area | a centralized waiting area will provide easier client flow for all programs and services and will enhance security within the facility.
