Silver Lake College Blesses First on Campus
Student Residence
Milwaukee, WI / August, 2009 – On August 19, 2009 Bray Architects joined Silver Lake College and The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in blessing their first on campus student residence – Clare Hall.
The four-story, 43,300 square foot wing of the main college building was renovated to provide approximately 100 beds of double occupancy rooms with community restrooms, gathering spaces, and kitchenette facilities.
The first and second floors of Clare Hall were used as sisters' residences and required renovation and significant aesthetic upgrades. The third floor was converted from sisters' residences and storage space to standard double rooms. The fourth floor was converted from academic classrooms and offices into large suites with dedicated private restrooms.
In an effort to complete the transformation a new exterior plaza was constructed at the main entrance to Clare Hall. This serves as the formal student entrance to the campus as well as an active exterior social space. In addition to the proposed aesthetic renovation, significant building infrastructure improvements were made including:
