Bray Awarded Design For LEED Certified Office Building
In Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Milwaukee, WI / January, 2010 Bray Architects has been commissioned to complete architectural / engineering, interior design, and LEED design services for a new, multi-tenant office building for JRA Development of Pittsburgh. The final tenant will be the General Services Administration.

The approximately 14,415 square foot, two-story office building will house the Mine Safety and Health Administration on the first floor and a confidential federal government tenant on the second floor. The new building will be highly secure with special consideration being given to building materials, site design, and HVAC and electrical systems.

The building’s shell will be constructed of a locally manufactured architectural precast concrete as a base with a high-density wood exterior for the top section. This skin was specifically selected because it provides a secure exterior, because the materials are locally produced and contribute to LEED certification, and because they provided the professional aesthetic being sought by the GSA.

The building will be pursuing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification under the new construction program.
